How Do I Prepare For My Appointment?

Tips For a Successful Diagnostic Scan

Arrive Early

We ask that patients arrive to our office 30 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment time. This will give us the time necessary to get you checked in and review any pertinent information with you. 

Clothing and Personal Items

Be sure to wear comfortable and loose fitting clothing to your appointment. You may be asked to remove jewelry (including piercings) during your ultrasound, so it’s a good idea to leave any valuables at home.

Fasting Requirements

For some scans, such as a gallbladder ultrasound, your doctor may ask that you not eat or drink for a certain period of time before the exam. 

Water Intake

Some scans may require a full bladder, such as a pelvic ultrasound. Your doctor or exam technician will let you know how much water you need to drink before the exam. Do not void your bladder until the exam is complete.

Wear comfortable clothing that is loose fitting for the best results. We suggest a loose fitting shirt paired with jogging or yoga pants.
